The Denon DN-500BD MKII has HDCP protection built into the device, which requires a constant handshake between the player and the device outputting the media. When your output device is not compatible, this will frequently manifest as being able to get audio without any picture playing.
As such, it's important to first make sure that your output device is HDCP compatible, especially if you are using a switcher from the player before it goes to another projector or screen.
Second, it's important to make sure your media is compatible with the device, as the device is not a 4k or Ultra HD player. These may carry more advanced HDCP requirements. In addition, be sure to use at least an HDMI 2.0 cable.
Then try the following steps:
- Disconnect the HDMI cable from both devices
- Disconnect the power cables
- Reconnect the HDMI cables
- Reconnect the power cables and power on devices.
On some devices, you will have the ability to change the display setting from 4k to 720p which may also help resolve this issue. Finally, you should test your video with an alternate screen.
